3D Content Creation for Virtual Reality

With the progress of multimedia, computer vision, computer graphics and embedded computing capability,
and many other relevant fields, there has been a renaissance for
X reality (XR), e.g. virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR),
and mixed reality (MR), sweeping from the academic to the industrial.
Many companies have released their products, which attracted tremendous a
ttention from the public. Examples include Google Glass, Microsoft Hololens,
Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR etc. However, unlike conventional visual display
industrial, the XR industrial is quite affected by the lack of 3D content.
To provide seamlessly immersive experience, a number of requirements should
be imposed on the 3D content for XR applications:
1) high definition and high
2) full panorama and free view sensing
3) interactivity with
surrounding environments, and most important of all
4) 3D immersive
These features are quite difficult for the pipelines of current content creation in visual applications.
The goal of this special session is to bring
together researchers and practitioners working in this
filed and to present the latest promising developments,
implementations, applications of 3D content creation in X reality.
The scope of this special session includes, but not limited to, the following topics:
Image-Based 3D Reconstruction
4D Reconstruction of Dynamic Scene
Markerless Motion capture
Animatable and Relightable 3D Content Creation
Light Field Capture
3D Panorama Image and Video Capture
